Waltham Forest
Town Hall Campus
Masterplan design and delivery

Waltham Forest Town Hall Campus is an 8 hectare site in northeast London that currently forms the civic heart of the borough. The Grade II listed Town Hall and Assembly Hall form a formal setting for civic and cultural events to occur, however the landscape and public realm are harsh and do not provide a safe, accessible, or legible site for visitors.
In response to the inhospitable public realm and the housing crisis in London, this masterplan seeks to democratize the campus while adding 28,000 sqm (250 units) new residential and a 4000 sqm civic buildings to the site. As lead designer, our role was to facilitate the design of the masterplan through coordination of all sub contractors, client parties and the public in a condensed time period.
The resulting masterplan respects and celebrates the historic setting through a redesigned civic plaza and carefully designed residential architecture. The campus illustrates flexibility for a range of people, events and uses and creates an open, permeable public realm and street face along the main corridor.
